What is Reiki?
Reiki is a form of energy healing. It works with the energy fields around the body
and involves the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner’s palms to the
client.
The word “Reiki” comes from the Japanese words “rei,” meaning universal, and “ki,”
meaning life energy
Reiki practitioners believe that improving the flow of energy around the body can
enable relaxation, relieve pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.
According to practitioners, energy can stagnate in the body where there has been
physical injury or even emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause
illness.
Health benefits
One of the main benefits of Reiki is reducing stress, Reiki gives your body a break
from the stresses of daily life, helping your body return to a state of relaxation. Once
in this state, your body is able to heal any damage brought on by stress, injury, or
disease: By helping a person experience deep relaxation, Reiki enhances and
accelerates our own natural healing process, because the body can stop being
stressed and focus on healing itself.
When you experience stress, your sympathetic nervous system reacts, increasing
heart rate and blood pressure and the fight-or-flight response that gets the body
ready to deal with potential dangers. So when your body is constantly under stress,
this response can shift into overdrive, which can lead to problems like a greater risk
of heart disease, research has found.

It is important to note that Reiki should never take the place of medical treatments.
However, people living with certain health conditions may be interested in trying
Reiki alongside their regular treatment. For instance, some people with cancer may
find Reiki beneficial as it may help them relax. The gentle nature of Reiki therapy
may have a soothing effect on patients who find that they become overwhelmed
with invasive therapy, fear, and stress.
During a Reiki treatment hands are placed (or just above) in certain places along the
body – over the Chakra’s. The use of crystals can also be used in a Reiki session or
the corresponding crystal colour placed on the Chakra itself.

Literally speaking, the word “chakra” from Sanskrit translates to “wheel” or “disk,” but
references to a spiritual energy centre within the human body, of which there are
seven along the spine, and through the neck and the crown of your head. ,
Each physical body part has a corresponding astral body part. The astral body cannot
be seen or touched. This is also a reason why we cannot see the chakras.
